First steps in blackwork

This totally screwed my eyes up - good lighting and glasses are a necessity. Still think it looks rather chunky so will give it another go (sigh) on a higher (i.e. finer) count thread fabric. Yawn. Wouldn't be so bad apart from the fact I had to unpick this a fair bit when I had miscalculated spacing etc. Think I have more unpicked thread in the bin than was actually used on this piece.
